In 1979, she moved to Dallas, Texas, embarking upon a new career as a free-lance advertising illustrator. As an illustrator, her clients included many Dallas businesses such as Neiman Marcus and Zale Corporation, along with several advertising agencies and studios.

She has now redirected her artistic efforts back towards the fine art education she received at Miami University. Since 1986 she has studied extensively with Kay Polk, a prominent Dallas-based portrait artist.

Marty works in pastel and pencil. Although portraiture is Marty's primary subject matter, she has received commissions for still life, landscape and animal paintings. In her art, she seeks to capture the natural appeal and beauty of the subject and in so doing, depicts a particular mood, personality or life experience.

An award winning artist in both fine art and advertising, Marty's work is in collectors' homes and businesses throughout the United States and England.
